The materials regarding soil fauna of the Khibiny massif mass as exemplified by the Wudyavrchorr mountain

A methodological approach to estimation of balance and accumulation of heavy metals in a lake in conditions of long-term air pollution has been considered. On the example of the Chunozero Lake the estimation of heavy metals accumulation in sediments for more than 70-year period of activity of the mining enterprise ("Severonickel") and the Lapland State Biospheric Reserve has been carried out. It has been found out that thickness of the polluted sediments on a greater part of the lake water area averages 2 cm, and average sedimentation rate for last 20 years equals to 1 mm/year. The metals accumulated in lake sediments can represent danger of pollution of water column in future, especially during processes of lake eutrophication.

Summer dynamic of soil temperature in the "Pasvik" reserve mountains

Summer temperature dynamics in upper organogenic horizons of mountain soils of trilateral "Pasvik" reserve situated in the north-west of the Murmansk region have been studied. Using the automatic registers (loggers) there have been received comparative data on daily and seasonal dynamics of soil temperature between the taiga and forest-tundra mountain vegetative belts on the slopes of counter exposition: on the south-east slope of the Kalkupya mountain and the north-western slope of the Korablekk mountain. Significant influence of high-altitudinal zonality and slopes orientation on differences of the temperature regime in the mountain soils has been revealed. The sum of positive and active soils temperatures for the two warmest months of the vegetation season (July and August) has been determined. The daily dynamics of soils temperature has been described in the conditions of northern summer polar day. The correlation between the temperature dynamics of soil and air has been recognized.
